One of the favorite pastimes of dimmi hindus is to make infantile, Great Gods, as sorry sappy, emotional cushions, for their misplaced feelings, in a manner akin to the cringe pet parents of today.
This bubbly pokemon type figure has never been what Ganesha has been about.
When Vishnu first encounters him, at a time the Siva Ganas and Devas were waging war on Ganesa , he says of Ganesa “ He is blessed. He is a great hero of great strength.
He is valorous and fond of battle. Many gods, Danavas, Daityas, Yakṣas, Gandharvas, and Rakṣasas I have seen. In the entire extent of the three worlds, none of them can equal Gaṇeśa in regard to brilliance, form, features, valour and other qualities.”
This is mentioned in the Siva Purana.
Meaning one who is a Mahaveera , Mahabala , unequaled in valour and fond of battle.
In the Linga Purana , another Saiva centric text , Ganesha’s birth is said to be after Brihaspati pleads to Siva to help the devas too , since he is always fond of giving boon to the Asuras. Siva then creates Ganesa’s body and then Parvati embraces him.
Ganesa is then mentioned as ´That boy emanating from both of them, the embodied form of both gentleness and terrifying appearance.
Shiva then blesses him saying :
O my son, you are born for the destruction of the Daityas ( Asuras ) , Remove the vital breaths (kill ) of the person who improperly performs the rites of teaching and study of the Vedas, the commentaries thereon and the rites mentioned in them.
If those who seek benefits ( from any other devatas ) do not worship you, you will harass them through impediments.
Then lord Gaṇapati created Vighna gaṇas (attendants of impediment). Along with his Gaṇas he bowed to the lord and stood in front of him.
Doesn’t sound all cute and cuddly does it?
In fact , most who are familiar with Ganesha Murtis being adorned with orange color sindur , often do not actually know that , it depicts the blood of the powerful Sindurasura , who Ganesha killed in his avatar as Gajanana.
Many of our Devatas took roopas to empower us , not fall to base ( or false ) emotions. This is true even of Ganesha. Whose Sadhana many great Kings of the past , even outside Bharata had done , for the purpose of warfare.
