The Yatra Equal to Kailash

Uncategorized

For many Shiva bhaktas, the dream of a Kailash Yatra sits quietly in the heart.

To behold Mount Kailasa, even once is said in the Skanda Purana to free one from sins and grant entry into Shiva Loka. Just the Darshan of Kailasa is considered beyond compare. No surprise then that it tops so many spiritual bucket lists.

But let’s be honest. The journey is not easy.
It demands physical endurance, financial resources, and circumstances that not everyone can command.
Does that mean Mahadev keeps His doors open only to the few?

Hardly.

Across Bharat, siddhas and great saints have always revealed compassionate alternatives. One such sacred path lies in Kerala  known lovingly as Dakshina Kailasha.

Here stand three ancient Shiva temples:

Vaikom Mahadev, Ettumanoor Mahadev, and Kaduthuruthy Mahadev.

Legend says that Kharasura, cousin of Ravana, received three powerful Lingas after intense tapas. But unable to bear their immense spiritual weight, he placed them down; first at Vaikom. There, Shiva abides in His Adi Roopa, the primordial form. In the morning, He is worshipped as Dakshinamurthi, the silent Guru of wisdom.

At Ettumanoor, Mahadev reveals an Ati Ugra presence, as Aghora Murti. Stand before Him, and you don’t just see. You feel. Goosebumps are common. Composure is optional.

The third Linga rests at Kaduthuruthy. When fire once threatened the temple, a devoted priest embraced the Linga to protect it, offering himself in surrender. Even today, his murti stands there; devotion immortalized in stone.

To complete Darshan of all three Mahadevas, especially on a Somavara, is said to grant fruits equal to Kailash Yatra itself.

Because in the end, Kailash is not merely a mountain of snow. It is a state of proximity to Shiva.

And sometimes, when the heart calls sincerely, Mahadev shortens the distance.

I was blessed to receive Darshan of all three under the advice of Sri Guru Rohit Arya; a reminder that when Guru Kripa flows, paths open.

Perhaps the real yatra is not about geography… but about grace.
