Thirumoolar

Uncategorized

When we speak of lineage, wisdom, and true spiritual authority in our land, a few names shine like fire in the dark and one of them is Thirumoolar.

A towering mystic.

A Siddha of unimaginable depth.

A saint honoured both among the 18 Tamil Siddhars and the 63 Nayanmars of Saiva tradition.

His masterpiece, Thirumanthiram, isn’t just a text; it is a treasure house. In it, Thirumoolar reveals the secrets of Ashtanga Yoga, Tantra, mantras, yantras, the workings of breath, the mysteries of body and soul.

Scholars have spent lifetimes studying it, and still, its depths are endless.

Yet what makes Thirumoolar extraordinary isn’t only the complexity he mastered but the simplicity he offered.

Because he understood something most seekers forget:

Spiritual greatness is not measured by how complicated our practice becomes but by how open our heart remains.

In one verse, he explains how to please Shiva. Not through grand rituals. Not through rare herbs, complex yantras, or thousand-bead japa malas.

But through simple human kindness.

He writes:

Yaavarkumaam Iraivanokkoru Pachillai

A single green leaf is enough to please Shiva.

Yaavarkumaam Pasuvitku Oru Vaayurai

If not that, feeding a cow a mouthful is enough.

Yaavarkumaam Unnum Pothu Oru Kaipidi

If that too is not possible, share a handful of your own food with someone.

Yaavarkumaam Piraruku Innurai Thaney

And if none of these are within reach

A compassionate word to someone hurting is also worship.

That’s it.

No drama.

No performance.

No spiritual ego.

Just presence, kindness, and sincerity.

And perhaps that is the paradox of Sadhana:

The higher we go into mantra, tantra, kundalini, and subtle inner practices the more essential it becomes to remain grounded in simple human goodness.

Because Shiva is not only found in the mantra or the meditation seat.

He is found in generosity.

In compassion.

In tenderness.

In humility.

So today, before chasing deeper practices, ask:

Is my heart gentle?

Is my speech kind?

Is my life aligned with grace?

Everything else is secondary.

If these words stirred something calm and true in you, step into our Tantra circle https://shorturl.at/4Fs5a a space where ancient wisdom becomes lived experience, and devotion slowly turns into transformation.

Om Namah Shivaya
