If you grew up watching The Karate Kid, you probably remember Mr. Miyagi far more vividly than Daniel LaRusso or as Miyagi affectionately called him, “Daniel-san.”
Daniel wants power, technique, and the satisfaction of kicking his enemies into the next timeline. But instead of secret moves and flying kicks, Mr. Miyagi gives him household chores.
Carry water.
Sand the floor.
Paint the fence.
And of course, the immortal instruction:
Wax on. Wax off.
Daniel grows frustrated because he can’t yet see that these mundane movements are actually rewiring his body, teaching precision, strength, and reaction through repetition. The flashy part comes later. The foundation comes first.
Tantra and especially mantra sadhana is exactly like that.
So many seekers today want to skip the fundamentals and rush into Mahāvidyā worship. “Bagalamukhī! Guhya Kālī! Give me the big stuff!”.
And unfortunately, there are teachers more merchants than guides—who happily hand over advanced sādhanas the way a mall kiosk hands out samples: quick exchange, no responsibility.
But the ancient path never worked like that.
Before the dagger and the thunderbolt, before the mysteries of Kundalinī and the fierce Devīs; there is Ganesha.
Sweet, round, gentle?
Perhaps to look at.
But don’t mistake softness for simplicity.
He is Mulādhāra Devatā; the Lord of Foundation.
He governs the place where the unconscious hides: guilt, suppressed emotions, ancient fears, and the stories we pretend we’re not still carrying.
Like Mr. Miyagi, Ganesha won’t hand you instant spiritual fireworks. He’ll first make you clean up the mind, stabilize the energy, and grow roots strong enough to hold power.
He’ll remove the wrong obstacles—and place the right ones—because some challenges are actually training disguised as delay.
Only later does the seeker realize:
All along, the path was being built under their feet.
And when the storm of deeper Tantra truly begins, you’ll be grateful for the strength, humility, discipline, and steadiness he cultivated in you first.
So if you’re tempted to sprint toward advanced practices, remember:
Wax on. Wax off.
Then mantra.
Then mastery.
If something in these words touched a quiet knowing inside you, perhaps it’s time to walk deeper not wider. Join our Tantra circle, https://shorturl.at/4Fs5a where practice isn’t rushed, power isn’t sold, and every step begins with His blessing.
